Bookmakers are not expecting anything other than Irish dominance in Cheltenham week.
Ireland are favourites to win the Champion Trainer, Champion Jockey, top owner and the Prestbury Cup – which is the direct competition with the Great Britain over who has the most winners.
Gordon Elliot is 5/4 to make a it a third successive Champion Trainer win at Cheltenham ahead of arch-rival five-time winner Willie Mullins at 9/4 – indeed there has not been a British winner since 2012 when Nicky Henderson took the title.
And the Irish have been even more dominant in the Jockey’s title with the last British winner being Robert Thornton in 2007. Since then Ruby Walsh has taken nine titles with other two being taken by Barry Geraghty and Davy Russell – who won last year. And it is Walsh, Geraghty and Russell who head the betting going into 2019.

The Irish are also destined to take away the top owners prize with JP McManus going head to head again with the Gigginstown Stud – between them the top powerhouses of Ireland racing have 80 Cheltenham winners between them.
And the Prestbury Cup – which is a straight battle between Ireland and Great Britain, is odds-on to be green again with the Irish 8/11 favourites.
OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “With Gordon Elliot and Willie Mullins expected to dominate, that naturally means they should be top price for every major trophy, and little surprise they are – would take a really bad few days for Irish eyes not to be smiling at Prestbury Park.”
