Everything is pointing to Liverpool comfortably taking the Premier League title, but can they go onto re-write the history books and maybe become only the third team ever to go a season unbeaten and become one of the Invincibles.
Liverpool are currently on the best run of form in their history, having gone 33 league games unbeaten – which is a club record for the Merseyside giants.
Before they complete the season, they can break Premier League record for unbeaten games of 49 – which is currently held by Arsenal, and if they do get a chance they would have the chance to do it in April against…current champions Manchester City, indeed around that time they could be on the verge of sealing the title.
If Liverpool’s form continues they will very much have a number of records set quite recently by rivals City – such as their highest ever points tally which is 100 points from 2018, which came courtesy of a record 32 league wins – such has been Liverpool’s dominance, if their current form continued they would be close to 110 points come May.
And another landmark they are very close to landing will come on January 3rd, if they don’t lose before then – they will have gone a whole year without defeat.
Indeed if they go unbeaten the whole season they would become on the third side in English history to go a league season unbeaten following on from Preston North End in 1889 and Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal from 2004.
Are there any negatives at all for Liverpool? Well, maybe…
|Most Premier League Points at Christmas|
49 points is a wonderful tally at Christmas, the third biggest in Premier League history and Liverpool’s best – but last season they had 48 points at this moment in time…and they let that slip, although this time last year they had a lead of just four points, compared to the ten they currently enjoy over Leicester.
OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “Everything, just about everything is pointing to a very special 2020 for Liverpool – at 1/7 for their first ever Premier League title, they have never been shorter – hence some Bookmakers have already paid out.
“They are now into 5/1 to to go the season unbeaten which would almost be fitting such has been the form of Jurgen Klopp’s side in the last 12-months.”
Liverpool to become Invincibles in 2020 – 5/1
Liverpool to win Premier League in 2020 – 1/7
Odds correct at time of writing
