Neymar no show sees Barcelona odds slashed

July 8th, 2019 Football, Home, Media & Journalism, News & Events, Press Release

Brazilian superstar Neymar has failed to turn up for pre-season training with Paris Saint Germain and he is now odds-on to return to former club Barcelona this summer.

The 27-year-old shocked the world when moving to the French capital 2017 after PSG paid his £200million release clause – which left Barcelona furious.

Now two-years on and Neymar is clearly unsettled, and has been linked with a move for most of this summer – although Barcelona have had more pressing issues, landing the likes of Frenkie De Jong and closing in on a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.

The links with Barca will not go away, and although PSG confirmed in a statement how angry they were their sporting director Leonardo has admitted he could leave.

Now Bookmakers have slashed the odds on him returning to Catalunya with Barca now 8/11.

OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “We have been here before with Neymar, more than once and Bookmakers are not taking any chances – but clearly the player thinks there might be a move in the offing, and he is doing his part.

“At 8/11 Bookies now believe he is more likely to leave than stay with him being Evens to remain at PSG.”

Selected odds on Neymar’s future:

To join Barcelona – 8/11
To stay with Paris Saint Germain – Evens
To join Real Madrid – 14/1
To join Manchester United – 50/1
To join Manchester City – 66/1
