The 2020 awards take place early in the New Year, and a number of the contenders are yet to be released – including Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated ‘The Irishman’ – which was favourite.
But now Tarantino’s ninth movie, his first in four years, has been been made favourite after a big opening weekend.
Other expected to be in contention are The Last Thing He Wanted – a political thriller starring Ben Affleck and Anne Hathaway, and Tom Hanks’s A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood.
OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “It is very early in Oscar betting, but it would not be a major shock if it was a straight battle between Tarantino and Scorsese come February.”
