Silva firm favourite for Sack Race after derby defeat

Marco Silva is the shortest price any manager has been this season to be axed following their comprehensive derby defeat at Liverpool.

Silva saw his side dismantled by the league leaders, eventually going down 4-2 and now Bookmakers have cut him into 1/18 which is nearly 95% probability that he is next man out.

Silva could very well become the fourth manager in the space of a month to go, after the sackings of Mauricio Pochettino, Unai Emery and Quique Sanchez Flores.

The odds on the Everton boss were also cut due to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s odds drifting after their win over Tottenham.

OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “We have not seen anyone as short as 1/18, the nearest being Unai Emery at 1/10 just hours before he left Arsenal.

“Indeed Silva is that short a price that some Bookmakers have closed their markets, it seems a matter of when he leaves rather than if and even under pressure duo Manuel Pellegrini and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have seen their odds increase, such is the pressure on Silva.”
