Diego Costa insists he will not return to Chelsea, but the Bookmakers are already running scared of this prospect and it needs to be considered, according to odds specialists OddsMonkey.
Costa was told earlier in the summer he was not part of Chelsea’s plans, but he has since refused to return for pre-season training and has been fined by the club.
The Brazilian-born Spanish striker insists he wants to move back to former club Atletico Madrid – but that is complicated by the fact they could not register him until January as they have a transfer ban.
Whilst Costa seems a million miles away from playing for Chelsea again – the chances of him doing so are getting shorter.
“You have to look very carefully at this market, yes AC Milan on loan maybe, or Atletico buying him but not using him until January are looking more likely – but the chance of him playing for Chelsea again has to be looked at,” says OddsMonkey spokesman Ricky Pedley.
“We have seen the odds on him playing for Chelsea again coming in – the chances of this happening are just 6/5 with PaddyPower and slightly longer with others.
“With less than two weeks left in this window, if he does not move then that would leave a four-month window for him to play for Chelsea again – it has to be considered.”
