The odds on Richard Madden being the next James Bond have been slashed.
The likes of Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and James Norton have all led the betting in recent months, but now the talk is about Game of Thrones and Bodyguard sensation Madden.
Punters have now latched onto lengthy odds and Madden is now just 6/4 to play Bond – who he has admitted he is a huge fan of.
The 25th Bond movie is due to release in 2020, with Daniel Craig set to reprise the role of the British spy for the fifth and final time.
OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “The leading four contenders of Hiddleston, Elba, Hardy and Norton have all had strong support at various stages in the last 12-months.
“It is expected that 2019 will seen the next Bond confirmed, so it could be that Madden is making the running at the right stage.
“He has refused to rule himself out of the running, and his role in the BBC’s brilliant Bodyguard has really got people talking about his chances of becoming one of the most iconic characters in film.”
Betting on next James Bond:
Tom Hiddleston 5/6
Richard Madden 6/4
Tom Hardy 6/1
Idris Elba 6/1
James Norton 10/1
