Bookies won’t oppose Anthony Joshua

March 30th, 2018 News & Events, Press Release, Sports Betting

Bookmakers are refusing to take on Anthony Joshua, despite the amount of interest being shown in his opponent Joseph Parker.

Throughout the industry, it is being reported that Parker is attracting huge interest and over 70% of bets have been on the big New Zealander.

Unbeaten Parker, the WBO world champion, started the week off as long as 10/1 and is now less than half that in most places.

Bookmakers, though, are rettisant to go against WBA Super, IBF and IBO heavyweight kingpin Joshua – who will have over 70,000 fans cheering him on at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Saturday night.

Joshua’s odds have gone out, due to the support for Parker – yet he is still as short as 1/6 – having been 1/12.

“The Bookies are banking on a Joshua win, although favourite, a Parker win would be very costly – over £2million is the minimum cost should the New Zealander win in Cardiff,” revealed OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.

“Joshua odds are likely to come in before the fight, despite being 1/6 – which is a probability of 85%, they are anticipating some major money coming in on him.”

Selected fight odds:

Joshua to win 1/6

Parker to win 4/1

Draw 33/1

Joshua by KO, TKO or Disqualification 2/7

Parker by KO, TKO or Disqualification 8/1
