This year’s Strictly Come Dancing has been turned on its head with one-time outsider Debbie McGree the new favourite to claim the famous Glitter Ball in December.
The famed former Magician’s assistant was considered one of the long-shots when she was confirmed on the show but has impressed week on week, and hit the top of the leader board at the weekend with maximum points from the judges – the first of the series.
Now after the shock exit of previous favourite Aston Merrygold – McGee is now the favourite to claim the title.
“We saw one of the biggest upsets in Strictly history at the weekend with former JLS star Aston getting voted off, he was a 100/1 shot to go before the show and most Bookmakers have reported taking no bets on that outcome – such was the shock at the decision,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton
“The market has now been turned around, but instead of Alexandra Burke being made favourite, McGee has been promoted to the top of the billing across the board and is now 7/4.
“With Aston now going, this market really is wide-open, and just shows how unpredictable these competitions are.”
