Motorsports: FIA Formula One World Championship 2017, Grand Prix of Mexico

Lewis Hamilton on course for more success

Lewis Hamilton is already a short-price favourite to win his fifth Formula 1 Drivers’ title next season.

The British star collected his fourth world title in Mexico, beating off Sebastian Vettel with two Grand Prix remaining.

Now Hamilton is already considered a short-price favourite to land the title in 12-months time.

“Lewis Hamilton became the most successful British driver of all time with his fourth title, but he has his eyes on more success, and now only Juan Manuel Fangio (5) and Michael Schumacher (7) have more Championships to their name – but the Bookmakers are not taking any chances, and are not taking him on,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.

“Punters are clearly already looking at Hamilton, his odds have already dropped and he is now around 15/8, which just shows that more dominance in 2018 is expected.

“Maybe for those looking for some value, is Hamilton to win another four titles, taking him past Schumacher’s record of 7 – for that you are being quoted 8/1.”

2018 F1 Drivers’ Championship odds:
Lewis Hamilton 15/8
Sebastian Vettel 3/1
Max Verstappen 4/1
Daniel Ricciardo 9/2
Valterri Bottas 12/1
