Ronaldo v Salah shoot-out for Champions League and Ballon D’Or

May 22nd, 2018 Football, Home, News & Events, Press Release, Sports Betting

Real Madrid or Liverpool? Cristiano Ronaldo or Mohamed Salah? There is certainly a lot riding on the Champions League final.

In a repeat of the 1981 European Cup final – Liverpool take on Real in the biggest club game in the world, and the Reds will be hoping for a repeat

Mohamed Salah is looking to become the first man since Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Footballer of the Year, Player of the Year and Ballon D’or titles in one season.

Ronaldo achieved the feat in 2008 during his time with Manchester United and now Salah has the chance to match him, having landed both the major accolades on offer in English football – pipping Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne to both.

However, he is now looking at the Ballon D’or – although Ronaldo remains odds-on to take this for a record sixth title.

“It is Real Madrid they Liverpool, but you could be excused thinking it is Ronaldo v Salah, and it could very well end up being that in Kiev,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.

“Real are odds-on for the title, as short as 4/6 whilst Liverpool are around 6/5, and the Bookmakers are reporting that they could be in for a hefty pay-out either was as these two sides have been the two most popular teams since the summer – despite the fact Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City held favourtism until late into the tournament.

“Then it comes to Ronaldo and Salah, and you can get 5/2 on him out-scoring Ronaldo but many are now thinking the Egyptian could win in the final and also then take the Ballon D’or and become on the second African player to take the honour following on from George Weah and he is just 2/1, with Ronaldo easing in recent weeks to 7/4.”

Selected odds:
Real Madrid to win Champions League – 4/6
Liverpool to win Champions League – 6/5

Cristiano Ronaldo to win Ballon D’or – 7/4
Mo Salah to win Ballon D’or – 2/1

Salah to outscore Ronaldo in Champions League final – 5/2
