Maurizio Sarri remains odds-on to be the next Premier League manager to leave after Claude Puel was axed by Leicester.
Puel left Leicester following their 4-1 hammering at home by Crystal Palace, and whilst his departure was not a huge shock – he was not the favourite to go.
Indeed Puel is the first Premier League manager to leave this season, who wasn’t top of the betting market in the Sack Race.
Slavisa Jokanovic, Mark Hughes, Jose Mourinho and David Wagner – who all left before Puel, were favourites.
|Premier League Sack Race Favourites|
Jokanovic sacked – was favourite
Hughes sacked – was favourite
Mourinho sacked – was favourite
Wagner sacked – was favourite
Puel sacked – NOT favourite
So Sarri remains at the head of the market, and at 1/6 his price has even shortened since Puel’s exit.
Sarri’s nearest rival is King’s Road neighbour Claudio Ranieri at 13/2 – and due to only a few months of the season left – it is 12/1 for no more managers to leave before the end of the season.
OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “The Sack Race has been quite predictable this year, as our research shows, indeed Puel is the only one to catch out the Bookmakers – although he was second favourite, so wasn’t a huge price himself having been outright favourite a number of times throughout the season.
“Now we are back to the market and Sarri at 1/6 is a very strong favourite to go next.”
