There is a new favourite for the Arsenal job, but not too many Arsenal will even know who Zeljko Buvac is.
Buvac is in fact the right-hand man to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, and has been for 17-years – but at the weekend he appeared to leave his role due to ‘personal reasons’.
Liverpool have said that Buvac is simply ‘taking a break’ but now reports in his native Bosnia claim that he is the man who will be taking over from Arsene Wenger at Arsenal– who will be stepping down as manager in the summer.
Now Bookmakers are reporting huge money has been taken on the 56-year-old to be Arsenal’s new manager and now he is favourite in many places.
“This shows how quickly things can move,” explained OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“Most Arsenal fans hadn’t heard of Buvac, like most Bookmakers and very few had him in the betting, those that did are saying he was 100/1 on Tuesday morning, now just a couple of hours later he is favourite in some places.
“The bets have been coming in thick and fast across the board, every major bookmaker reporting taking big hits on this.
“Arsene Wenger was something of an unknown when he took charge, could we be seeing a repeat? Quite possibly if the markets are to be believed.”
Selected odds on next Arsenal manager:
Max Allegri 7/2
Zeljko Buvac 7/2
Luis Enrique 9/1
Carlo Ancelotti 9/1
Brendan Rodgers 9/1
Mikel Arteta 20/1
Patrick Vieira 25/1
