Before that though, what exactly is an each way bet?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>What is an each way bet: a quick overview<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An each way bet is two <\/span>equal<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> bets that are combined to make one bet: a <\/span><b>WIN<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> bet for the horse to win, and a <\/span><b>PLACE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> bet for the same horse to finish in one of the places. This is where the term \u2018each way\u2019 comes from. Other information shown includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the \u2018going\u2019 (the condition of the ground), <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the distance of the race,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the current each way odds<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the number of places paid out.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the bottom of the image, there\u2019s an offer from the bookmaker: &#8220;Money Back 2nd&#8221;. I&#8217;ve entered \u00a35.00.<\/p>\n<p>Because this is an each way bet, there&#8217;ll be a tick in the E\/W box. If it isn&#8217;t, just click it. The&nbsp;\u2018x2<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 indicates that the bet is now made up of 2 x \u00a35 bets: 1 x \u00a35 bet to win and 1 x \u00a35 bet to place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In other words, your total stake is \u00a310 (\u00a35 each way).<\/p>\n<p>The total estimated returns of \u00a35 each way, at odds of 21.00, are \u00a3135.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re only estimated because the exact amount depends on the outcome of the race. If the horse wins, you&#8217;ll get paid out on both the win <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;place parts of the bet. In this example, I&#8217;ll receive \u00a3135 in returns.
