Bookmakers are running scared of Tiger Woods after scintillating return to action last week.<\/p>\n
The former world number one, considered by many the greatest golfer the world has ever seen, has struggled for a couple of years with a series of back problems – but he is now pain free and he made his comeback at the Hero Challenge in the Bahamas, where he finished an excellent ninth – as he went head-to-head again with the world’s best and beat most of them.<\/p>\n
Woods’s ninth paced finish in the Hero event has seen Bookmakers slash the prices on him adding to his 14 major titles.<\/p>\n
“Tiger began last week as 80\/1 for the opening major of 2018 – the Masters – but now he has been cut to 22\/1 after a glut of interest was seen in him over the weekend,” explained OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.<\/p>\n
“He has also been cut into 6\/1 from over 20\/1 to win any major in 2018 – the Bookmakers are taking this comeback serious, but so are the public who are clearly putting their money where their mouths are by backing Tiger.<\/p>\n
“There are also a really interesting couple of side markets – he is now into 33\/1 to be world number one again, not long ago he was over 100\/1 and don’t forget we have the Ryder Cup next year – we thought again he would be their as a non-playing vice captain for skipper Jim Furyk, but he could yet be playing for his country again and he is as short as 11\/4 to do that.”<\/p>\n
