The Brits are destined for big success at the Golden Globes, and the Bookmakers are already seeing a big Oscar night for the UK film industry.<\/p>\n
The Golden Globes are the first major gongs of ‘awards season’ ahead of the BAFTAs and then the big one, the Oscars.<\/p>\n
Now the Globes, voted for by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, has announced their nominations and it is full of potential British success in all the big categories.<\/p>\n
Dunkirk, the co-British, American, Dutch and French production is favourite for best movie along with its British director Christopher Nolan.<\/p>\n
Gary Oldman is favourite for best actor for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in the Darkest Hour, whilst Sally Hawkins is joint-favourite for the Best Actress gong for her part in the Shape of Water.<\/p>\n
“As it stands the Golden Globe betting lends itself to the Oscars, so the odds are similar and if that stands up – the Brits are in for a very strong showing during prize season in Hollywood,” confirmed OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.<\/p>\n
“In this market you do get the odd upset but generally the market leaders do come out on top.”<\/p>\n
