{"id":99,"date":"2020-02-06T16:44:27","date_gmt":"2020-02-06T16:44:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/om2.philclerkin.com\/?p=99"},"modified":"2020-02-07T15:06:40","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T15:06:40","slug":"blackpool-champions-curse-can-kelvin-and-karim-overcome-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oddsmonkey.com\/blog\/media-journalism\/blackpool-champions-curse-can-kelvin-and-karim-overcome-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Blackpool champions curse \u2013 can Kelvin and Karim overcome it?"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\nWith Blackpool week in the bag, many of the Strictly Come Dancing celebrities will begin to have their eyes on the Glitter Ball \u2013 but history suggests avoiding victory at the seaside.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOddsMonkey has looked back over every series that has seen an event filmed at Blackpool\u2019s World Famous Tower Ball Room, not including the finals.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnd it shows that if you take victory in Blackpool, that does not bode well at all \u2013 indeed only one person has even won and then gone on to claim the Glitter Ball Trophy.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe only champion to also win in Blackpool is Jill Halfpenny, who did that in 2004 in just Series 2 and few would have believed that nobody would do it it since.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nNow it means that history is not on the side of either Kelvin Fletcher or Karim Zeroual \u2013 who shared top spot in Blackpool this year.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIndeed looking back over the last five years, the winner has gone on to finish second, but Kelvin and Karim will be looking to break that record.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
