Fed express odds looking good

At the start of 2017, Roger Federer was 100/1 to win three Grand Slams – now he is a very short price to do that.

The ‘Fed Express’ is looking as good as ever, and is only cementing his place in sporting legend as he picks up yet more Grand Slams.

The Swiss superstar captured the Australian title in Melbourne, but he has since gone on to take Wimbledon and is now firm favourite to take the US Open at Flushing Meadows next month.

And his odds have shortened further following the news that Novak Djokovic has been ruled out for the rest of the year through injury.

“With Djokovic out through injury and Andy Murray struggling for form, other than Rafa Nadal – who is going to challenge Federer at the US Open, short answer nobody and whilst ante-post markets always run a risk if they don’t partake – if you want to back him, now is the time to do it,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.

“Federer has been a fascinating watch this season, he was 100/1 to win three, and even after winning in Australia he was still 20/1 to complete the treble, which shows just how much form he has shown this year.

“And although you can now only get around 6/4 in the market, he is likely to be odds-on by the time we start in New York next month.”
