Meet the team: Chris

Who’s ready for another chance to meet the team here at OddsMonkey?! For those of you who don’t know Chris, he looks after video editing and graphics. Yes, the lovely images you see on the site and social media are all down to him! Maybe he’s secretly Banksy…?

Meet the team: Chris

Tell us about yourself! Whereabouts in the UK are you from?

I grew up in Blackpool but now live in Prestwich with my family. I have a degree in Moving Image and I’m a filmmaker, graphic designer, motion designer and camera operator.

What did you do before joining OddsMonkey?

Before joining OddsMonkey, I worked as a freelance filmmaker and motion designer. My client list includes Natwest Bank, Intel, Hewlett Packard, Capita, BAE Systems, The Football Association, Sellafield and the London Met Police.

How did you come to join OddsMonkey?

I did some freelance work for OddsMonkey back in 2016/17 after being introduced to them by a client. I must’ve done something right because they managed to tempt me into working full-time for them. They’re a great team who offer a fantastic service so I didn’t put up much of a fight.

What is your favourite part of your job?

There are lots of things I love about my job. If I were to pick my favourite aspect it would be the variety of work. I get to exercise all of my skills and no two days are ever the same. One day I can be working on illustrated designs and the next day an animation project. I love having the creative freedom to approach each project from my own perspective, and the OddsMonkey team allow me to do just that.

What is something that you worked on that you’re most proud of?

I’ve done so much over the past 5 years that it’s difficult to pick just one. The project that I most enjoyed working on was probably the Betfair 2% commission video. It was a fun little animated project that allowed me to create cartoon versions of two OddsMonkey directors, Pete and Paul. Who wouldn’t love that? I’m especially proud of the scene where Pete massages Paul’s feet. I’ve never laughed so much at work since.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies?

I love photography and filmmaking. I also enjoy writing but struggle to find the time these days! That could be because I have a 2-year-old daughter now so most of my spare time is spent with her and my partner. I’m also getting old and boring so I really look forward to a weekend DIY project these days! Can’t beat pottering in the garden either.
