OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton added: “This looks a fascinating field for what is always one of the most eagerly awaited television events of the year. Whilst there aren’t as many contestants this year the change of venue and new approach is likely to make this series as popular as ever.

“We have taken a good look back and the first thing you notice is how much the favourites tend to struggle over the years, with just five of the pre-live show favourites taking the crown.

“But the odds change drastically in the first week, on more than one occasion we have seen the favourite go in the first week – things can change very quickly but the facts and the odds are all pointing to Shane Richie.

“We have already seen four different favourites in the build-up, but he looks very popular with punters at least.”
