England into second favourites and on course for the final

England are now second favourites behind Brazil to win the World Cup, with the Bookmakers backing them to face the Samba superstars in the final.

The Three Lions came through a nerve jangling penalty shoot-out win to overcome Colombia, and now their route to the final is firmly set out.

Gareth Southgate’s men take on Sweden on Saturday, and victory there would set-up a semi-final against either Croatia or hosts Russia.

England are now 4/1, joint with France and only behind Brazil at 11/4.

“The Bookmakers now feel England are on course for the final, they are the shortest price of any nation on that side of the draw,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.

“Having started the tournament around 16/1, they are now a quarter of that price and are the lowest price for a World Cup finals win since they won it in 1966.
