Brexit continues to dominate the political landscape in the UK and Europe, but could there still be a second referendum on the issue? Bookmakers are certainly starting to think so.
With the news that the Leave Campaign broke electoral rules, a number of MPs and vocal opponents of Brexit are calling for a second vote on the issue after the UK public voted to leave in the summer of 2016.
The UK government is now working towards Brexit in March 2019, and as it stands there are no plans to offer another vote to the public.
However, Bookmakers are starting to slash the odds on the chances of there being a second vote.
“The public might very well be Brexit weary, but they are getting a taste for a second vote and Bookmakers have been forced to react,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“The chances of a second vote was ranked around 16/1 just a few weeks ago, but that is now as low as 5/2 in places.”
