England new favourites for Euro 2020 as draw is made

Bookmakers have made England favourites to win Euro 2020 after the draw for the finals was made.

The Three Lions were drawn against old rivals Croatia, who ended their World Cup dreams at the semi-final stage in 2018, are first up for Gareth Southgate and his men, who will also face Czech Republic – who the played in qualifying.

England could yet face Scotland also, but they are involved in the play-offs, meaning Norway, Israel or Serbia could be the final team to make up Group D – although no matter who they face all the group games will be at Wembley.

Previous favourites France were handed an extremely tough task as they will face Germany and Portugal – and on the back of that, England have been moved to the top of the market at 4/1 whilst the French have moved out to 13/2 third favourites behind the English and also Belgium – who were handed a favourable looking group – at 11/2

OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “France have it tough in one of the hardest groups we have ever seen at the finals with Germany and holders Portugal and it is probably not a huge shock to see their odds drifting.

“But England favourites? Given Croatia are in their group and they could be joined by a very talented Norway or Serbia – we think that 4/1 is a bit short, and perhaps Belgium at 11/2 look a decent price as they have a pretty nice group from the outset.”
