The opening day of Cheltenham is nearly here, but already Bookmakers are fearing a possible colossal loss.
There are four hugely fancied horses going on day one – and should those four come in, then Bookies are bracing themselves for what could be one of their worst days in history.
Bookmakers across the industry believe that a bad day on Cheltenham on the opening day could be one of the biggest of all time.
“We are hearing figures of £20 to £25million in potential loses for the Bookies, if this four-timer comes off,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“And you have to say the four horses in question – Getabird, Footpad, Buveur D’Air and Apple’s Jade are favourites for good reason, and you find it hard to go against them.
“Indeed, punters are getting on these four in their numbers – the Bookies are scared, very scared of these four.”
Odds on big four on Cheltenham Day One:
Getabird in the Supreme Novices Hurdle – 6/5
Footpad in the Arkle Chase – 11/8
Buveur D’Air in the Champion Hurdle 1/2
Apple’s Jade in the Mares Hurdle 8/13
