With the Manchester City juggernaut looking unstoppable at the moment, Bookmakers are looking ahead to who might be able to beat them.
Such is the interest around City, a number of Bookmakers are now running markets on when their unbeaten start to the Premier League season might come to an end.
In the coming weeks, not much is fancied but early in December there is the Manchester derby – and United are fancied to perhaps be the ones to inflict that opening defeat of the season on the Citizens.
“City’s run of games coming up sees them taking on the likes of Huddersfield, Southampton and West Ham, and the Bookmakers’ prices on those, 4/1, 5/1 and 11/2 – clearly suggest that those teams won’t be troubling Pep’s boy,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“It does get interesting though on December 10th when City are at Old Trafford, and this will surely be one of the sternest tests of their unbeaten run. If they are still without a defeat at that point – the Bookmakers will not be taking any chances, a number of Punters have already nibbled at this, with United currently at 7/4.
“If they come through United, then there is still the market on City becoming the latest Invincibles – at the moment you can still get 10/1 on that, if they come through that United game – they won’t be 10/1 at that point.”
