The Grand National 2018 looks like being one of the most wide-open and competitive ever, and it remains the most popular Horse Race in the world.
Bookmakers believe they will see over £150million gambled across the country this weekend and The National will be the biggest betting event of 2018.
Bearly have the adult population will gamble on the event in some way, be it straight bets or office gambles like a sweepstake.
With the 40-runners now confirmed for the Saturday’s race, betting for the race has now ramped up and Bookmakers can’t decide who is their favourite,
“Bookmakers are struggling to decide on a favourite, with the four market leaders all being favoured somewhere in the industry,” revealed OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“Blaklion, Tiger Roll, Total Recall and Anibale Fly are all around 10/1 – but you can find them all favourites somewhere in the market – those four are clear of the field.
“It is really interesting, but from what we are seeing, it seems Anibale Fly could very well go off as favourite, but it will be close.
“One horse who is getting shorter all the time is Baie Des Illes – ridden by Katie Walsh – the fact it has a female jockey on and is a grey, that will attract interest and the odds have already been more than halved having started the week at 40/1 – now you will be lucky to get 16s.
“So, we are not going to tip a winner – but we would say that with the competitive weights and handicaps, there are no huge outsiders here, it is not like previous years where some real no hopers managed to get into the field, this looks like the classiest national for years.”
