1 year since I joined coral and put my first bet on!! Wasn’t sure I was going to hit the 4k today but 2 house refunds came in. My good luck continues after taking a big loss in January. STORY TIME! 🙂 I first discovered matched betting back in 2018 while drifting through a night shift. After a quick scan through the article I thought ‘yeah sure, whatever’ and moved on. By 2020 my nightshifts had moved to working from home and with increased boredom I circled back round to matched betting with interest. I was intrigued but didn’t believe it until I saw an article on Money Saving Expert about making additional incomes and it talked about Oddsmonkey. ‘Maybe there is something to this’ I thought and signed up with the intention to read the guides and start.

Unfortunately, nature had other ideas and I was diagnosed with a respiratory condition. In and out of hospital I was too ill to go to many social engagements and unable to do any matched betting. Each year I renewed my subscription determined to start but unfortunately was never well enough. At the end of 2023 I was then made redundant and money started to become a thing to watch.

Fast forward to February 2025 and I get the okay from the doctor to start preparing myself to go back to work. Part of my preparation was to build a learning schedule to get myself used to a work day. I decided part of my learning was going to be with Oddsmonkey. I read through the guides and on the 15th March 2025 I placed my first bet. EXCITING! Now two and a half months later I am sitting at just below £2k profit. This has not only paid for the subscription that I was not able to use but also the social engagements I missed due to ill health.

I now feel I am at a break even point and able to continue matched betting to help with my income while I look for work under my new normal. I missed my 11k post but thought now was a good time to post, had a couple weeks off when the season come to an end. When I first started I used my winning as I won so not really seeing any gain from it apart from living week to week a bit more comfortable than I was.

Just after Xmas I stopped withdrawing and spending my winning in little bits and had left balance of 2.5k to 3k in a separate bank account and let all the winnings build up. This allowed me over the last couple of weeks, take my 2 kids to London for the full weekend for the Championship play off final (would have went with them anyway, but this made it financially easier). Also allowed me to spend around 2k of my profit on decorating and replacing beds and other things in my house.

It’s taken 20 months, and today also marks six months since I joined the value package. April gave me a bit of a tease moving before Betfred rinsed me 😅, but I’ve finally hit the milestone. This is actually genuine, I started with odds monkey a few weeks ago to earn a bit of extra cash for Christmas. So glad i did it. The tools and great and the forum is full of really knowledgeable and helpful people. Anybody thinking of joining just get on with it and do it, you won’t regret it.
