The Bookmakers are widely believed to enjoy Cheltenham, as they often they are perceived to do very well.
But how true is that? OddsMonkey has looked back over the last decade to see just how the Punters and Bookies fared at the biggest Festival in racing…
In 2019 we saw eight favourites win, which is around a 28% hit rate and we can reveal having looked back over the last decade – that is indeed the average for favourites at Cheltenham.
And that does mean that Cheltenham is someway beneath the average, when it comes to National Hunt racing the favourite wins on average around 34% of the time – so that is very different when it comes to Cheltenham.
Looking over the last ten years there have been 273 race winners, 79 were favourites meaning only 28.9% win.
